According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, Abhay Deol is all set to produce a film down South and might also do a cameo in it. It’s a Tamil film called Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kathai and this is what he said in the report: “I am one of the producers on the project now. It started out as just a cameo. I had met Rathindran, the director, many years ago when he was working on a different script. We got in touch again only recently via Greg Burridge, the film’s stunt director, who also has a part in it. Everything came together organically.”
He has done his own dubbing in the film. “I learnt the language by focusing on the words I had to say. I broke down the verbs, learnt the meanings, stressed on the subject in a sentence and didn’t improvise. It took a lot of focus.”
Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kathai is a modern take on Vikram and Betaal. The film derives its metaphor from the eternal chase that Vikram and Betaal are locked in.
